OPSY - The Workbench Actions panel processing has been fixed so that workbench inspection entries are not corrupted. This was causing various problems such as accessing reports with the N line command. VTAM - NCP_SDLCST_TRANSFR. VTAM - CA_LINE_READ. VTAM - CA_LINE_WRITE. VTAM - CA_PU_TGN. JES3 - PUW. In this release, the shift in emphasis from the Image to the Sysplex as the primary target of auto-discovery and inspection has resulted in numerous changes to the Production and Workbench Views. The Recovery View remains unchanged from prior releases, while Definition and Setting Options have been enhanced to support more robust release migration tools. IMAGE Focus 5.0 Patch 2 included previously unannounced features: 1 - The field ADD'L PARMLIB has been added to the Single IMAGE Definition Panel found wtihin the Workbench Option, Working With an IMAGE. This field will accept and pass a valid Dataset Name to the Inspection Server when an Inspection is requested. This Additional Dataset will be concatentated before those found in LOADxx to arrive at the final set of ParmLib Members. 2 - Certain major Inspection Report Sections listed within the IMAGE Report Index will now display the selected Report Sections in IMAGE Worksheet Format. Effected sections are those proceeded by the symbol ">" and include >SUM_RPT, >KEY_RPT, >DSN_RPT and >IPLINFO. In IMAGE Focus 5.0 on the >SUM_RPT is fully functional. Those wishing to use the IMAGE Worksheets will also need to download and install a new copy of IMAGE Analysis. /*============================== IMPORTANT NOTICE =========================*/ Users moving to IMAGE Focus 5.0 will be required to Export their settings from the prior release and then Import them into IMAGE Focus 5.0. /*=========================================================================*/ -About this document: Users upgrading from prior releases to IMAGE FOCUS 5.0 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are upgrading to IMAGE Focus 5.0 from a prior release you will need to reinstall IMAGE Focus. In addition, if you are not currently at IMAGE Focus Release 3.5 or greater, you will also need to receive new License Authorization Code(s). To receive new License Authorization Codes, you will need to provide NewEra Technical Support with the CPU MODEL and SERIAL NUMBER(s) of the CPU(s) on which you plan to install IMAGE Focus. NewEra Technical Support can be reached by phone at 408-201-7000 and by e-mail at support@newera.com. Downloading IMAGE Focus Release 5.0 from the NewEra Homepage: If you would like to download a copy of IMAGE Focus 5.0 and the User's Guide you may do so by accessing the NewEra Homepage on the Worldwide Web at http://www.newera.com. Follow the link beginning with "REQUEST PRODUCT UPDATE". To reach the download area you will be prompted for "Required Information". Please make your entries as complete as possible. You may also use the Email interface or Form functions built into the Homepage. Your system will then prompt you for the path and file name under which to store the download file. Once this information is supplied the download of IFG will begin. Total download time will be approximately 5 minutes. What you get in a download: You will receive a single self-extracting file named IFG.EXE. When you execute the downloaded file on your PC, it will expand into ten files labeled: ifo_50_read_me.txt, whats_new_in_image_focus_50.doc, whats_new_in_image_focus_50.pdf, image_focus_50.doc,image_focus_50.pdf, messages_image_focus_50_v1.doc , message_image_focus_50_v1.pdf, messages_image_focus_50_v2.doc , message_image_focus_50_v2.pdf and ifo50p41.bin. The ifo_50_read_me.txt file contains instructions on how to move the ifo50p41.bin to your MVS Host, but you can review them in the next section. If you want an extra copy of the User's Guide print it using Microsoft Word or any other word processor. In addition there is a PDF version of the User's Guide. You will need to move the ifo50p41.bin to your Host MVS system as part of the actual installation of IF50. How to use the download: Once the download is complete you will have received a single file named IFG.EXE. Expanding this file will produce the ifo50p41.bin. You move ifo50p41.bin to your MVS Host using the following instructions: First, you will need to allocate a sequential dataset to receive the file where your.dsn is the name of a dataset you create for the temporary storage of ifo50p41.bin on your host and vol is the volume serial number of the DASD volume this dataset will be located on. An example follows: //ALLOC JOB ...... // EXEC PGM=IEFBR14 //FILE DD DSN=your.dsn,DISP=(,CATLG),VOL=SER=vol, // UNIT=unit,SPACE=(CYL,(25,1)),LRECL=80,RECFM=FB, // BLKSIZE=6160 //SYSPRINT DD DUMMY Second, transfer the file from the PC to the newly created dataset on your MVS Host with a file transfer program. If you are using TSO SEND/RECEIVE you would specify: SEND c:\ifo50p41.bin x:'your.dsn' Third, you will now need to edit the information contained in the dataset. Note that the resulting JCL will be just like that which appears in section (7.0) of this User's Guide with the exception that the TAPUNIT and TAPVOLU do not exist. Fourth, you are now ready to continue the IF50 installation as described in Section 7.0 of the ifo50.doc. When the installation is complete you may delete the ifo50p41.bin as it is no longer needed. IF50 Contains the following Major Enhancements: IMAGE Focus 5.0 is the foundation upon which all future releases of IMAGE Focus will be based. All Users are encouraged to migrate to 5.0 as soon as possible to take advantage of currently available and planned enhancements. Specifically in IFO 5.0 users will find the following: Functional Enhancements In this release, the shift in emphasis from the Image to the Sysplex as the primary target of auto-discovery and inspection has resulted in numerous changes to the Production and Workbench Views. The Recovery View remains unchanged from prior releases, while Definition and Setting Options have been enhanced to support more robust release migration tools. Production View Enhancement Overview 1. Production View Enhancements: The Production View controls the setup and timing of the IMAGE Focus Monitor (previously called the Background Task). The IMAGE Focus Monitor provides surveillance over named Image/Sysplex Pairs at programmed intervals. During this surveillance process, the Monitor first evaluates the "Surveillance List" for enabled Image/Sysplex pairs; next it INSPECTS each to detect configuration changes and further evaluate their impact on the overall IPL integrity of the Image/Sysplex Pair. The results of this change and impact analysis are reported to named members of the IMAGE Focus Workgroup by TSO broadcast and/or email. In addition a new report, The Job Log, contains a summary of Monitor activity, actions and results. In this release, the Production View interface has been enhanced to allow users to more easily define and control the functions of the Production Monitor Task. Package Storing (Blueprinting) Options are now accessed and controlled exclusively from the Production View, having been eliminated from the Workbench View 2. Workbench View Enhancements: The Workbench View interface has been enhanced to allow users to more easily define and work with individual Image/Sysplex Pairs at the Workbench and join an IMAGE Focus Workgroup by inheriting existing Monitor Definitions. 3. Recovery View: Unchanged from previous releases. 4. Definitions & Settings: IMAGE Focus Definitions & Settings are unchanged from prior releases with the exception of Migration Options. Migration Options. To upgrade to a new Level of IMAGE Focus, it will no longer be necessary for an individual user to Export and then Import individual settings in order to capture the benefit of Release/Product Patch enhancements. This notwithstanding,Users moving to IMAGE Focus 5.0 will be required to Export their settings from the prior release and then Import them into IMAGE Focus 5.0. IF50 Patch 2 addresses the following items: 02/10/2004 8:00 AM 1. OPSYS – A started JOB from IEFJOBS/IEFPDSI contained a JOB card with a keyword operand that was enclosed in parentheses. When this operand was moved to the output JOB card area the parentheses were not included. This has been corrected. 2. OPSYS - In SMFPRMxx a string such as NOTYPE(92,(10:11),99) worked but NOTYPE(92,(10,11),99) failed. This has been corrected. 3. OPSYS - The z/OS V1R5 support in IFO 5.0 Patch Level 8 introduced some errors in CONSOLxx on the HARDCOPY statement. DEVNUM(SYSLOG,OPERLOG) was being flagged as an error and DEVNUM was marked as a required keyword, which it is not. These have been corrected. 4. TCPIP – A syntax error was being generated for a LUMAP statement with the KEEPOPEN keyword. This has been corrected. IF50 Patch 10 addresses the following items: 04/09/2004 9:00 AM 1. OPSYS - The SF line command on the Indexed Report could fail when executing an internal ALLOC command due to not being in the correct REXX environment. This has been corrected. 2. OPSYS - The Single Image Inspection panels now show a description on “Inspect Now” instead of “Execute Now” for the X line command. 3. OPSYS - I rare cases certain variables were not initialized when a Sysplex was promoted to Production. This has been corrected. 4. OPSYS - Importing Production definitions into a freshly installed Image Focus could cause message IFO0794E ENVIRONMENT NOT INITIALIZED. This has been corrected. 5. OPSYS - Support has been added for the ECMB keyword in IEAOPTxx. This keyword is valid in z/OS V1R5 and z/OS V1R4 with the z900 Exploitation Feature. Image Focus will issue an error message if this keyword is used on z/OS V1R3 or lower. A notice message will be issued if used on z/OS V1R4 just to mention that the keyword is only valid only on a z900 with the Exploitation Feature. (Image Focus is processor independent AND it does not detect the Exploitation Feature). 6. OPSYS - Support has been added for the FICON keyword in IECIOSxx. IF50 Patch 11 addresses the following items: 04/14/2004 9:00 AM 1. OPSYS - OPSYS Z/OS V1R4 INSPECTION SUPPORT FOR THE IBM CONSOLE ENHANCEMENTS FEATURE. 2. OPSYS - For normal inspections Image Focus will automatically detect this feature. This automatic detection has not been confirmed as we don't have a system that has this feature. Inspection messages related to this feature may contain references to "z/OS V1R5". These should be taken to mean "z/OS V1R4 with Console Enhancements". Since the Console Enhancements feature is integrated into z/OS V1R5, Image Focus uses the V1R5 logic to check the components related to the z/OS V1R4 Console Enhancements. 3. OPSYS - Release Inspection Panels have added a CONSOLE ENHANCE selection so that customers going to V1R4 with Console Enhancements can inspect their images for compliance with Console Enhancements requirements. 4. OPSYS - Just as in the z/OS V1R5 support previously announced, new messages have been added to indicate the number of consoles defined against the maximum allowed and for duplicate console names. These messages appear in a new ++SYSCON member in the Indexed Report. 5. OPSYS - REPORT DATASET SPACE ALLOCATION: Prior to Patch Level 8 all report datasets were allocated with CYL(1,1). Patch Level 8 added fields on the Monitor Options Panel (Production View) and the Workbench options (Workbench View) so that these values may be increased if needed. 6. OPSYS - Very large reports are not practical since they require a lot of time and resources to process. In Patch Level 11, if the Primary or Secondary CYL specification on the Monitor Options panel exceeds two cylinders the image inspection reports for any background inspections will disable the member display of all inspections except for OPSYS. 7. MISSING MESSAGE - Message IFO0645W, which was accidentally deleted from Patch Level 10, has been restored. IF50 Patch 12 addresses the following items: 04/16/2004 9:00 AM 1. OPSYS - Message IFO0762E INVALID IEASYMXX STATEMENT; TYPE=xxx and/or ABEND 0C4 processing a group of IEASYM statements due to a subroutine returning control in 24-bit mode. 2. TCPIP - A profile inspection was generating a syntax error on a LINK Statement with Type IPAQENET. This has been corrected. 3. TCPIP - If a TCPIP INCLUDE statement had an error, such as ‘dataset not found’ then the TCPIP inspection could produce an incomplete report. IF50 Patch 13 addresses the following items: 04/27/2004 8:00 AM 1. OPSYS - The sysplex inspection report was treating a configuration as an XCFLOCAL when it should have been a MONOPLEX. This has been corrected. 2. OPSYS - In the Work with an Image panel if an inspection was done followed by the use of the Indexed Report with the SF line command a re-inspection could result in an ABEND 013-20 due to a workfile being used with two different LRECLs. The open routine has been changed to reset the blocksize when switching LRECLs. 3. VTAM - SWNET_PU_XID keyword corrected. 4. VTAM - SWNET_PATH_SAPADDR keyword corrected. 5. VTAM - XCA_VNGROUP keyword corrected. IF50 Patch 14 addresses the following items: 04/29/2004 12:00 PM 1. OPSYS – Report displays could show the status of inspections as UNKNOWN. This has been corrected. 2. OPSYS - Message IFO0794E ENVIRONMENT NOT INITIALIZED could be displayed in error. This has been corrected. 3. TCPIP – TCPDATA inspections: Tokens within a Domain Name with one character length were flagged as errors. This has been corrected. IF50 Patch 15 addresses the following items: 05/10/2004 3:00 PM 1. OPSYS - A Log report or a pre IFO 5.0 report being viewed from a reports panel could have a random blank line inserted near the end of the report. This has been corrected. 2. VTAM - Support concatenation of ATCSTR00. 3. VTAM - Support NCP LOAD specification is ATCCONxx (e.g. NCP501/NCP501Y. 4. VTAM - ATCSTRXX_DISCNTIM corrected. 5. VTAM - XCA_GROUP_KEEPACT corrected. 6. VTAM - SWNET_PATH_REDDELAY corrected. 7. VTAM - LOCAL_PU_DISCNT corrected. IF50 Patch 16 addresses the following items: 05/14/2004 3:00 PM 1. OPSYS - New message IFO2100N has been added – It is the intention of NewEra Software to add additional *INTERGITY* in future product releases. Users with specific interest in this area should contact NewEra Technical Support. 2. OPSYS - New message IFO0653E SYSLBC DDNAME IS MISSING will now be issued if this DDNAME is not in the Master JCL for MVS release levels that require it. 3. OPSYS - New message IFO0654N FOLLOWING STATEMENT MAY HAVE A COMMENT THAT IS NOT PROPERLY TERMINATED PRIOR TO COLUMN 72 will now be issued when inspecting parmlib members that support /* */ style comments if a */ sequence appears in columns 71-72 or 72-73. This is to help detect a comment termination sequence that should not extend past column 71. 4. OPSYS - New message IFO0655N ddname NOT SEARCHED; NOT AVAILABLE is now issued instead of IFO0738W ddname NOT SEARCHED; NOT AVAILABLE when the RESOLVER component of TCPIP is inspected and the RESOLVER PROC does not have a //SETUP DD statement. Since the //SETUP DD statement is optional the Notice message is more appropriate that the Warning. 5. OPSYS - If a report dataset was created and for some reason never written to the use of the Reports Panel would get an error “'LMINIT FAILED, RETURN CODE = 8” causing no reports to be displayed. The Reports Panel logic has been changed to ignore any reports that have no data. 6. OPSYS - SYS1.SVCLIB is now included in the OPSYS inspection and it now shows up in the Dataset Report. 7. OPSYS - Message IFO1519W INSPECTION TERMINATED; ONLY ONE IMAGE IN THE SYSPLEX has been changed to IFO1519I CROSS CHECKING BYPASSED; ONLY ONE IMAGE IN THE SYSPLEX. IF50 Patch 17 addresses the following items: 05/24/2004 12:00 PM 1. OPSYS - zFS datasets referenced in BPXPRMxx received the following messages: IFO0795E dsn HAS INVALID ATTRIBUTES. IFO0796E TYPE MUST BE LINEAR. This was due to the attribute checking for VSAM datasets being done too late in the process. The attribute checking for datasets in BPXPRMxx is now performed prior to calling the pre-allocation module. 2. JES2 - RRD_RD_XEQNODE 3. VTAM - ATCSTRXX_TIBUF 4. VTAM - ATCSTRXX_UPDDELAY IF50 Patch 18 addresses the following items: 06/01/2004 9:00 AM 1. OPSYS - USE_RESOWNER keyword was missing from the keyword table for IGDSMSxx. This has been corrected. 2. OPSYS - Message IFO1823E has been changed to IFO1823W. This message is issued, for example, for a CONSOLxx statement when the console name has all hexadecimal characters. 3. OPSYS - The following items affect DEVSUPxx: . The default values for MEDIAx, PRIVATE, and ERROR keywords were not allowed to be specified, but could be defaulted. IBM PTFs have changed this so Image Focus now allows the default values to be specified also. . MEDIA6, MEDIA7, and MEDIA8 keywords are now supported for OS/390 V2R10 and higher systems. . ENFORCE_DC_MEDIA and MTL_NO_DC_WORM_OK keywords are now supported for z/OS V1R3 and higher systems. IF50 Patch 19 addresses the following item: 06/07/2004 12:00 PM 1. OPSYS - Image Focus has been updated to save the IEASYS and SYSCAT suffixes if used on the Workbench – Inspection – Image Definition Panel. These values will remain in effect when an Image is promoted to production so that production inspections can use them. IF50 Patch 20 addresses the following items: 06/09/2004 2:00 PM 1. OPSYS - Production View Multiple packages per day are now stored using the new package member suffixes. These suffixes, when translated reflect the overall results of an inspection, a "S" for Success, "E" for Errors and "W" for Warnings. The Dataset Name that contains a related inspection has been added to the Package Browse Panel. In addition, the "R" Line Command has been added to allow Inspection Report Selection directly from the panel. 2. OPSYS - New Report A Program Properties Table (PPT) has been added to the IMAGE Inspection and is presented in the INDEX Report using the Section Heading "+PPT_RPT". The Report is also included in the Blueprint using ./ADD PPTRPT. New Change summary and Change Detail reports have been added to the IMAGE Inspection Report that are created during Interval Monitoring. 3. OPSYS - Inspection Formatting Addition of relative line number and more precise column information in some messages: IFO0658/659/660. 4. SENTRY - IMAGE Sentry IMAGE Analysis has been renamed to IMAGE Sentry. IMAGE Sentry included all previous IMAGE Analysis functions plus significant enhancements that will assist in z/OS Configuration and/or Integrity 5. MESSAGES -The following new messages have been added. FO0658I INFO IN ABOVE STATEMENT (LINE xxxxx) AT OR NEAR COLUMN yyy. An information level message was issued for a statement at relative line number xxxxx and column yyy. IFO0659W WARNING IN ABOVE STATEMENT (LINE xxxxx) AT OR NEAR COLUMN yyy. A warning level message was issued for a statement at relative line number xxxxx and column yyy. IFO0660E ERROR IN ABOVE STATEMENT (LINE xxxxx) AT OR NEAR COLUMN yyy. An error level message was issued for a statement at relative line number xxxxx and column yyy. IFO0661I BASE PROGRAM PROPERTIES TABLE REPORT. This message indicates the start of this report. IFO0662I IEFSDPPT ENTRIES HAVE BEEN TRANSLATED INTO SCHEDXX FORMAT. This message is self explanatory. IFO0370I DELETED MEMBER mmmmmmmm DUE TO MAXIMUM PACKAGES ALLOWED IN A SINGLE DAY. Only a fixed number of packages per image may be stored on a single day so one or more packages may be deleted that were generated earlier on the same day. IFO0371I COMPARE SUCCESSFUL; PACKAGE BEING STORED DUE TO A CHANGE IN STATUS. Although, the compare was successful, a new package is stored because the inspection status is different than the last inspection for this image. This is probably due to an environment change such as un-cataloging a system dataset and not a change to a parmlib member or configuration file. IF50 Patch 21 addresses the following items: 06/16/2004 10:00 PM 1. OPSYS - Background monitor gets one or more "IKJ56284I UNABLE TO ISSUE MESSAGE ..." message due to an uninitialized control block. This has been corrected. 2. TCPIP - The TCPIP Profile Inspector has been updated to correct a problem in the inspection of the TCPIP Statement TCPCONFIG. 3. VTAM - ATCSTRXX_HPRPST 4. VTAM - ATCSTRXX_IQDCHPID 5. VTAM - ATCCONXX NCPLOAD IF50 Patch 22 addresses the following items: 7/09/2004 8:00 AM 1. OPSYS - IFO0304E TABLE NSINDX TBDISPL RETURN CODE=4; DSN=*TEMP* when selecting more than one item on the Indexed Report panel. Multiple selects are not allowed and are now ignored by the panel processor. 2. OPSYS - CON=(00,L,NOJES3) caused as syntax error in IEASYSxx. This has been corrected. 3. OPSYS - A console definition in CONSOLxx with a name that was all hexadecimal characters caused a warning message to be displayed followed by an error message. The error message should not have been issued and has now been removed. 4. OPSYS - An ALLOC keyword has been added to the Dataset check inspector. This causes the inspector to allocate the specified dataset so that the dataset will appear in the Dataset Report and its volume will appear in the Volume Report. The ALLOC keyword, if desired, should be placed in columns 8-14 of the inspector control statement. 5. OPSYS - The MSGRT keyword in CONSOLxx was causing a syntax error. This has been corrected. 6. OPSYS - If a SYSNAME keyword in IEASYMxx was defined with a user defined system symbol then the SYSNAME was unable to be resolved. This has been corrected. 7. OPSYS - Report datasets that have an associated package will not be automatically deleted. When the maximum number of reports has been exceeded Image Focus determines the number of reports that need to be deleted and it attempts to delete that number of the oldest reports. Reports in the delete list that have an associated package will not be deleted and may cause the maximum number of reports to be greater than the maximum reports setting. Whenever a package is deleted and that package has an associated report then that report becomes eligible for deletion. 8. OPSYS - This level has a new DF (delete force) command for the reports panel. This allows a report that has been protected due to an associated package to be deleted. Please add that to the fix list. 9. JES3 - RJPWS_LU 10. JES3 - SETPARAM_DEFERCT 11. JES3 -DEVICE_CARRIAGE 12. JES3 -NJECONS 13. JES3 -SETNAME_XTYPE 14. JES3 -DEVICE_XTYPE 15. VTAM -ATCSTRXX_TIBUFT IF50 Patch 23 addresses the following items: 7/19/2004 17:00 PM 1. OPSYS - A bad save area chain was being created when a package was deleted by the background monitor task causing various problems with background processing. 2.
