It Fully Documents:
The Inspection Server generates
reports that fully document your operating system and the
major subsystems – JES, VTAM and TCP/IP – the tens of
thousands of lines that make up your OS/390 or z/OS Sysplex/Monoplex.
This documentation is complete, current, and
addresses compliance issues as well as internal and external
audit demands.
It’s Automatic:
Simply installing IMAGE Focus will
lead it to the IPL Address and LOADPARM of an Image by the
time you reach the primary Menu. The initial Inspection will
gather the PARMLIB members and all details of your Operating
System, JES, VTAM, TCP/IP and other named components.
If the Image discovered is a good
citizen in a Sysplex, it will further discover all of the
components of the other Images, ending the process by
discovering the Couple Components giving you a complete
understanding of your Sysplex, its Images and their
Subsystems. Blueprints
are created, updated and maintained automatically by the
Inspection Server.
It’s Complete:
The IMAGE Focus Inspection Server
understands all of the releases of MVS, OS/390 and z/OS.
Additionally, it understands JES 2, JES 3, VTAM and
TCP/IP. We also
have Custom Inspectors that understand REXX and CLIST syntax
for checking scripts used to start your automated processes.
It Directs Action:
Once an Inspection is complete, you
have direct access to all of the components that comprise a
specific Image through the Image Editor.
This means there will not be any guesswork.
The member you work with will be a member in a
specific dataset on a specific volume that was defined in
your LOADXX member for that specific Image, meaning there is
no opportunity to edit or change the wrong component.
The Inspection Server looks over
your shoulder as you edit and make changes, ensuring that
you do not introduce any mistakes that might ultimately
cause an IPL failure.
It Assures Access:
Under the worst circumstances,
our products Stand Alone Environment (SAE) and IMAGE Focus
provide their own Communication Subsystem, which will assure
a single user direct access to the Inspection Server from
any locally attached terminal.
This is important when MVS is down and you have no
resources whatsoever available.
SAE will give you access to its functions as well as
access to the Inspection Server.
If MVS is up but the Subsystems are down, IMAGE Focus
gives you access to the Inspection Server through a separate
started task that would generally be started once MVS was
operational.
Access to the Inspection Server can
also be gained through a batch process. For example,
Automated Operations tools can launch an Inspection right
after a successful IPL and Blueprint the results.
Additionally, access for most work
with the Inspection Server by multiple users is through a
VTAM application, Option 6 under TSO or via the World Wide
Web using a browser.
