The
Image FOCUS Core, IFOCORE, includes the following: |
|
Operating
System Inspection - Supporting all releases
of MVS and z/OS through V2R1 (and will have same
day support for all future releases of z/OS by IBM
when it's made GA), evaluates operating
system configuration components for weaknesses that
will cause IPL failure. |
Dynamic
Element Inspection - Pinpoints changes in
the LnkLst, LpaLst and ApfLst that have not been
updated in the system configuration. |
System
Component Inspection - Allows for the
inspection of individual system components. Within
the Operating System, for example, individual z/OS
Parmlib Members maybe inspected. |
New
z/OS Release Analysis - Isolates areas in
your current operating system configuration that will
need to change in order to become functional when
used with a new release of z/OS. |
Controlled
Image Monitoring - Fully automates the
interval inspection of Controlled Images and the
reporting of results. |
Blueprinting
& Change Detection - Blueprints the z/OS
configuration for Controlled Images, detecting and
reporting changes |
Subsystem Recovery - Provides access to ISPF
system repair functions when TSO is not available.
This Image FOCUS Core function is often called
'NOTSO". |

Plus-One
Applications
|
|
|
|
|
The
contents of these download packages require the
installation of the Image FOCUS Core. If you are
not yet an Image FOCUS Core Licensee or are evaluating
the Image FOCUS Core, you will need
to download and install the Core before you download
and install Image FOCUS Plus-One Applications. |

There
are two types of Plus-One Applications: Integrated
Plug-In Applications and Self-Contained Plug-In
Applications. Each of these explained with related
applications listed below. |
|
Integrated Plug-In Applications:
An Integrated Plug-In is an ICE
Plus-One Application that is
included with the IFOCORE download.
To activate these applications
during your evaluation, you will only
need to add an Evaluation License
Key to the Image FOCUS Control
Member NSEPRM00; no additional
application download is necessary.
Integrated Plug-In Applications
include: SUBINSP - The Subsystem
Inspectors for z/OS, CEDITOR - The
Control Editor for z/OS, FDERASE -
Fast DASD Erase For z/OS and HLTHCKR
- Health Checker Posting and
Reporting for z/OS. |

The Control Editor,
CEDITOR, extends the scope of ICE by leveraging the existing Inspection and Surveillance functions of Image FOCUS into an ISPF editing environment that both improves productivity and enforces policy. It
is a z/OS System Control tool that provides access
when it is needed without limitations, provides a
full and complete audit trail and can be tailored to
meet organizational requirements. The Control Editor
also provides automatic/continuous back-ups, assures
data recovery when errors are discovered, and
performs its tasks without hooks or system exits. |

Checker Post/Report, HLTHCKR, is an enabling
application that supports ICE and its
Applications as they both Post Inspection results to
and/or Report on the state and status of the IBM
Health Checker for z/OS. |

Self-Contained Plug-In
Applications:
A Self-Contained Plug-In is an ICE
Plus-One Application that is not
included with the IFOCORE download.
To activate these applications will
require two steps. First, download
the application(s) to you desktop
and move them to the Image FOCUS-created USERLIB. Second, add the
Evaluation License Key to the Image
FOCUS Control Member NSEPRM00.
Self-Contained Plug-In Applications
include: SUPINSP - The
Supplemental Inspectors for z/OS and
ISENTRY - Enhanced Analysis and Reporting. |
