SAE 10 Enhancements include:
The Image Focus application will be called Image Services and
expanded to include both Image Comparison and Image Analysis:
-
Image Comparison - This new service will compare the
contents of the current system parameter libraries with
those that have been previously saved as "Image Packet
Files" by IMAGE Focus. The comparison will pinpoint
changes from the "Saved Image" and position the
user to make corrections as required.
-
Image Analysis - This enhanced service will analyze the
process of an OS/390 IPL to determine which libraries,
members and parameters will be used for a given IPL address
and loadparm. Potential points of failure are identified and
the user positioned to make corrections as required.
This option retains the previous Volume Selection list for
re-use. This allows the user to avoid unit search when the unit
selection parameters match those used to create the previously
displayed volume selection list. Optionally,
this function be enabled/disabled.
A new DASD Erase Parameter Setting screen is now used to set
Erase processing options. This replaces the need to enter
several commands on the Erase Volume Selection screen prior to
initiating any erase operations. In addition, new integrated erase
diagnostics allow NewEra Technical Support to assist you in
improving overall erase performance.
A new SAE Logon screen is now used to enter passwords and
override codes when SAE is first IPLed. In addition, this new Logon Screen will assist infrequent users of SAE in
obtaining the following information:
-
SAE distribution tape expiration date is displayed;
-
IPL Unit address is displayed;
-
Loadparm content, if any, is displayed;
-
The SAE IPL console address is displayed.
SAE now runs full time in 31 bit mode and supports I/O and
instruction processing with up to 2 GB of main storage.
Support has been dropped for S/370 processing mode. SAE now
supports only XA, ESA and S/390 processing modes. Customers with
processors that only support S/370 processing mode must
continue to use SAE 9.9.
Support has been dropped for 20 row console device types like
the 3205. SAE now supports only console devices with support for
24 or more rows.
