SAE 12 Enhancements include:

• Support for Erasing VSE DASD - SAE Erase Only is now available for the VSE platform.  The SAE Erase Only option is for users interested in using SAE at their Disaster Recovery test sites or when decommissioning DASD.

• Compliance Issues - If your installation is governed by HIPAA and/or GLBA, how do you stay in compliance when you perform a Disaster Recovery test at an unsecured third-party hot site location?  Your data and its security are your responsibility, not the responsibility of the hot site vendor.  SAE customers enjoy peace of mind knowing they have completely erased all confidential data.

• Pattern Erase - SAE 12 adds the ability to write a random byte value in addition to binary zeroes across tracks during Fast DASD Erase usage.  The zero pattern erase is still supported and is the recommended value and default. Some installations require multiple erase passes with varying values.  SAE 12 allows the user to select the byte value to be written across the track.
